And News from Bradbury,,,

Hello Everyone . . .

Trail maintenance days at Bradbury for the first Sunday of each month from May – November, with the exception of July, when it will be the second Sunday:

May 3
June 7
July 12
August 2
September 6
October 4
November 1

For each of these, we will meet at the park shop (just past the entrance gate on the right) at 9:00. The park will provide the tools (and donuts), and you should bring gloves, water, snacks and raingear, if needed. Please try to get these as close to 9:00 as possible, and remember to sign-in with a park ranger before heading out onto the trails.

We will send reminders for each trail day and also provide more information on the projects we’ll be working on as we get closer.

The majority of trail maintenance at Bradbury is done by volunteers like you, so please join us for as many of these as you can. And, if you know of anyone who would like to get involved, just send us their email address and we will add them to the list.

And now for some awesome news . . .

In February , the state announced that a $121,000 grant is going to the Bradbury Mountain State Park/Pineland Land Unit, for the connection between the state park in Pownal and the public land unit in New Gloucester. The new trail will include two bridges and trail improvements and will be available to the public for hiking, cross-country skiing, mountain biking and horseback riding.

The full announcement is here (the amount is higher than the $103,000 shown in the article).

We will send you more information on this project as it becomes available, but this is a major step in making the Bradbury-Pineland connection a reality!

Finally, there is still a lot of snow on the Bradbury trails; the park will update the website to announce the opening of the trails once they dry out, but for now, they are closed to bikes and horses.

Thank you for your support – see you on the mountain!
