This Wednesday night ride will be at Bond Brook in Augusta. Meet at 5:30 at the far back of Mt Hope cemetery next to the Augusta Airport. As the daylight starts to dwindle we will be wearing headlamps in a few weeks, if you have them, charge em, if you don’t, buy em. It’s a ton of fun.
We had a great workday this past …Saturday at Pine Ridge, thanks to all who attended.
Cheers Brian
DOUBLE DAY,
Sundays Double Day event was a huge success!!! For those of you who might have missed it we combined roadies, mt biker’s and BBQ; stirred it up and had a great time. Road rides and mt bike rides departed at 10:00 and met up at 12:00 for a great BBQ and other tasty morsels. After lunch another road ride left the parking lot and a good portion of the road riders from the morning ride decided to try mt biking for their afternoon ride. Good times!!! I want to thank Dave Richard of Central Maine Cycling Club (CMCC) (for coming up with the idea and hosting the BBQ), Inland Hospital, and volunteers from Central Maine chapter of the New England Mountain Bike Association (CeMeNEMBA).
BIKE DEALS,
From our friends at Tom’s Bike Boutique;
Hope all is well.
Tom from the Bike Boutique here.
Wanted to let you know about an offer from Yeti. It’s a unique opportunity on a limited run bike.
Thought some of the CeMeNEMBA chapter might like to know. Didn’t want to post it to all on the CeMeNEMBA list without going through you…
Yeti bicycle is celebrating 25 year in the business. Last weekend, after a 25 mile ride in Colorado (wish I had been there), they unveiled the 25th anniversary bike. The 2011, 575 limited addition, with custom retro Yeti graphics (yellow and Turquoise) limited run of only 250.
Available as a frame ($3000) or complete bike (XT build kit, $4500). The Frame includes matching color seat, embroidered with 25th anniversary graphics, custom Fox (Float) fork and Chris King (headset) with matching turquoise treatment, just for the bike! The complete comes includes the limited run frame, built with an XT group.
I’ll post images from the Yeti anniversary (tribe) ride as soon as they’re available to me.
The 2011, 575 model has 5.75 inches of travel (front and rear), with ISG tabs, and the option to accept a rear though axle (basically the ASR 7 lower carbon rear stay) for freeriding.
If anyone is interested in a new ride, this is a unique limited opportunity on a proven bike. I’ll need to know ASAP as they’re going fast!
Thank you,
Tom Gill

Ride report,
We had a great ride this past Wednesday at Quarry Road (QR). 23 riders showed up to explore QR, the new gravel path on the ski trails was a blast. We visited Devils Chair and had a super fast ride down from Oak St to Fairfield St on a pretty well groomed two-track. QR has a lot of potential, ha-ha, I say that a lot don’t I.
Bond Brook;
I rode a little over 8 miles at BB tonight, exploring and generally checking things out. Some of the trails have been untouched such as the Quarry trail, Double B trail and The Works; others have disappeared in whole or partially. The switchbacks need to be mowed but that’s coming shortly. It’s still very rideable if you know your way around. I think we’ll do a work day (and ride) there this coming Saturday. Stay tuned for details.
Cheers
Brian
TRAILS
We have 2 new trails at Pine Ridge now and we are working on a map of the area…… Brian B and I will be scouting at Bond Brook next week to relocate a few trails and setting a trail work day so we can get that place up and running again. If you want to join us for the scouting just let me know.
FUTURE WED RIDES;
- The Play Ground in Winslow 7-28-10
- The Res in Hallowell 8-04-10
- Bond Brook in Augusta 8-11-10
- Quarry Road in Waterville 8-18-10
Rain/wet days will always default to Summerhaven.
REPORT;
We had a great ride this past Wednesday at Summerhaven, 8 or so folks showed up and had a fun, wet, muddy ride. For those of you that might not know, I don’t ride or condone riding on wet trails. That said we do ride Summerhaven on wet days. Summerhaven is a giant gravel esker and we basically ride the ATV trails that are there and the few of us that ride there can’t possibly harm any ATV trail. FYI
All are welcome; we may split into two groups depending on abilities.
Cheers
Brian
I’m also looking for a volunteer to coordinate our events for the summer season. Please email me if you are interested. Thanks!!!
