Prior to this weekend’s moist weather the trails at Pine Ridge (PR) have dried enough to be rideable; looks like we have more drying weather coming in the first of the week. In addition to the traditional trails (double-track) at PR there are now a couple of miles of fun single-track for your riding pleasure. The trails need to be ridden for the track to “harden”, so have at it. PR is a work in progress so new trail will be added as time permits; we now have permission with landowners from the Webb Road to KMD to rehab and add more single-track. Woo-Hoo!! There are no trail markers (other than pink flagging) yet so if you ride out there it will be all about exploring. The trailhead at this time is behind Inland Hospital in Waterville, go to the far end of the back parking lot and you will see the trail entrance on the west side. Go through the Inland loop for a 100yds and you will see the exit and a small bridge and you are there. Explore and have fun!!!

The trails at “The Res” in Hallowell are in good shape and very rideable. For those of you who may not be familiar with The Res it is located on the Town Farm Road just off Winthrop St/Granite hill Road. Again exploring is the key.

Bond Brook is still basically un-rideable, will keep you posted on that………….. Summer Haven in Augusta is defiantly open to riding.

We will be having a workday May 1st and a ride after. Save the date, more details coming soon.

This coming weeks Wednesday night ride will be at The Res, details later.

Cheers
Brian
President

Dear Friend of CeMeNEMBA ~

Wow, it’s been an exciting first year for the Central Maine chapter of the New England Mountain Bike Association! As a fellow trails enthusiast, I’m sure you’ll agree that our group is making a difference for local folks who enjoy mountain biking at any level. In our first year, we’re already living up to our mission to “build it, bike it” for trail lovers like yourself here in Central Maine! Here’s a look back at some of our accomplishments in 2009:

Built (and biked!) 7 miles of trails at the Bond Brook Recreation Area in Augusta
Hosted Central Maine’s first annual Take A Kid Mountain Biking Day
Represented mountain bikers in meetings in various group discussions including with the Department of Conservation to ensure mountain bikers’ interests are included in plans for the new Androscoggin Riverlands State Park and other trail projects in Central Maine

As we look forward to the New Year, in addition to our ongoing work at Bond Brook, our efforts will also focus on the Waterville area with a new sub-committee forming in January. The 150 acre Pine Ridge Recreation Area, located between the Waterville Airport on Kennedy Memorial Drive and the golf course on West River Road has tons of potential for miles of single track to be added to the existing trail network.

We’re a dedicated group that’s gaining momentum ~ and we need your help to continue our efforts in 2010. If you enjoy mountain biking (or just love trails and the outdoors in general!), please remember CeMeNEMBA during this giving season.

You can help support our local trail efforts in a number of ways:

Renew your CeMeNEMBA membership or if you’re not already a member, please join us
Make a tax-deductible year-end contribution
Help us fill our wish list by donating items such as a GPS system, hand tools, or even an enclosed trailer if you happen to have a spare in the yard!

Please click on the Please Donate! link above to support your local trails today. Together, we can “build it, bike it” even more! Thank you in advance for your support. We look forward to seeing you out on the trails in 2010!

Brian Beneski, Vice President
Jodi Harvey, Secretary
Ellen Wells, Treasurer
